What is glycogen ? How is it different from starch

Question :What is glycogen ?  How is it different from starch ?

  • Glycogen

It is  polysaccharide (carbohydrates ) which is stored in animals body .it's also  present in liver , muscles and brain .when the body need glucose , Enzymes break down the glycogen into glucose .

  • Starch

It is a polysaccharide which is stored in plants .it consists of two components amylose and amylopectin

Amylose .it is soluble in water and make 15 — 20% of starch .

Amylopectin it is water insoluble in water and makes 80 — 85%  of starch .

Glycogen mainly resemble amylopectin in structure .both glycogen and amylopectin are branched Polymers of glucose but, glucose is highly branched than amylopectin . glycogen chain consist of 10— 14 glucose units where as amylopectin Chain consist of 20 — 25 glucose units .

Questions: Write two characteristics of chemisorption

Surface area : Chemisorption increase with the increase of surface area of absorbent .

Highly specific : it is highly specific  it will only happened  when the absorbent and absorbed molecules acj chemically react to each other. For example oxygen is adsorbed on the  metal by oxide formation .
