What is apomixis and polyembryony ?

 

Apomixis:

 It is  the process in which  seed produce  without fertilization called apomixes. It is  form of asexual  reproduction that mimics sexual  reproduction there are several way to development  of apomictic seed in some species. The diploid  egg cell  is formed  without reduction  division  and develops  into the embryo  without fertilization  it is mainly often  citrus and mango    some of the nucellar cells surrounding the embryo sac start  dividing   

Apomixis is important for producing hybrid varieties of fruits and vegetables, and also best  for increasing crop yield multifold.

Polyembryony :

in  which such species each ovule contain many embryos occurrence  of more the  embryo  in  a seed  is referred  to as  polyembryony
