what are the consequences of loss of biodiversity

Question : Loss of Biodiversity

It is clearly  that Due to human activities, the natural wealth is getting lost rapidly.

The last  twenty  years alone   have witnessed the disappearance of 27 species   carefully analysis  of records  show that  extinction   across  taxa  are not   random..

Main Causes of biodiversity losses:

Habitat loss and fragmentation – :

This is the most important  cause  effusions  animals and plants   to extinction.

this most  commons   example of  habitat  loss come from  tropical rain forests.

This is the main cause for loss of biodiversity. Habitat destruction is caused by human being activities such as deforestation(cutting tree) and increasing pollution, leading to the loss of many plants and animals. and leading   population declines.

Over-exploitation –:

Human  have always  depends  on the nature  for  food and shelter , but  when need  turn to  greed . its leads   to  over- exploitation  of natural  resource .many species  extinction  in the last  500 years (shelter of cows  ,passenger  pigeon ) were  due to  overexploitation by human  activities .

Alien-species invasion −:

when alien species  are introduced  The unintentionally or deliberately introduction of alien species causes the declination of the indigenous species. Example − Nile perch introduced in Lake Victoria led to the extinction of an ecologically  unique  assemblage more than 200 species of cichlid fish in the lake.

Co-extinction −:

When a species  or animal becomes extinct, another plant or animal which is associated  with it in  an obligatory  way  also  become  extinct..  for instance − In case of coevolved plant-pollinator mutualism, where  the extinction of  one  invariably  leads  to  the extinction other also.
