What is polymer ?
Question :What is polymer ?
It's define as the Very large molecules (macromolecule) having molecular mass (10-10u) .it is formed by joining of several smaller units (Monomers) through the chemical bonds by the process of polymerization example of Polymer is : Silk, Rubber ,wool etc.
Questions: What is different between physiorption and chemisorption
Physiorption :
- it is mainly formed due to the Vander waal forces.
- It's not specific in the nature
- It's reversible in nature
- It's enthalpy of adsorption is low as campared to chemisorption (approximately 20 — 40 KJmol-¹ )
- It's more easily liquefible gases are absorbed readily as well it's depend on Nature of gas .
- Low temperature is favourable for it
- No appreciable activation energy is required .
- It's results into multimolecular layers on the absorbent surface under the higher pressure .
Chemisorption :
- It is formed sure to the formation of chemical bonds
- It is highly specific in the nature
- It's ireversible in nature
- It is enthalpy of adsorption is high (approximately 80 —240 KJ mol-¹)
- It is also depends on the nature of gases .the gases which can react with the absorbent show the chemisorptions.
- It is favourable for high temperature
- Sometime high activation energy is required .
- It results into unimolecular layers
